Job Mission:
Drive innovation by designing, building, and validating electronic and mechanical prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions for next-generation automation products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Electronic Design: Design and develop electronic circuits and systems for new products, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
Mechanical Design for Prototyping & Proof of Concepts: Use 3D CAD tools to design mechanical components and assemblies specifically for prototyping and proof-of-concept purposes, utilizing 3D printing for rapid iteration and validation.
Proof-of-Concept: Build and test prototypes to validate new product ideas and technologies.
Embedded Systems: Develop, maintain, and debug embedded C code for microcontroller-based systems, primarily using Cortex-M core MCUs.
Tool Usage: Use Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout; use 3D CAD software and 3D printers for mechanical prototyping and proof-of-concept development.
Version Control & Project Management: Participate in version control and project management using GIT and JIRA.
Documentation & Testing: Support documentation, testing, and validation of both electronic and mechanical systems.



PREFERRED COMPETENCIES:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
Good communication skills in English (Swedish is a plus).
Enthusiastic about innovation, prototyping, and hands-on development.



REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Recent graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience are welcome.
Experience in analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar) and hands-on experience with 3D printing, focused on prototyping and proof-of-concept development.
Embedded C programming skills, preferably for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
Ability to build and test both electronic and mechanical proof-of-concept prototypes.
Experience with 3D CAD and 3D printers for mechanical prototyping.
Familiarity with GIT for version control.
Good communication skills in English (Swedish is a plus).

About the position
We are seeking an experienced Robotics & Automation Engineer to join our growing automation team in Danderyd. You’ll play a key role in developing, integrating, and maintaining robotic systems that automate complex laboratory workflows. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a practical, hands-on approach to industrial automation and robotics.
Key Responsibilities
Design, program, and deploy automation solutions using collaborative robots (e.g., Universal Robots, ABB, KUKA, or similar).
Integrate robotic systems with custom tooling, sensors, and lab instruments.
Collaborate cross-functionally with software developers, engineers, and lab staff to identify and automate manual tasks.
Develop and maintain PLC, robotic, and peripheral device control software.
Troubleshoot, calibrate, and optimize robotic systems to ensure continuous uptime.
Participate in the installation, testing, and documentation of new automation solutions.
Contribute to the standardization and scaling of automation systems across multiple labs.


About you
Experience and Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience working with robotic systems (Universal Robots, ABB, KUKA, or similar).
Proficiency in robot programming languages (URScript, RAPID, KRL, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, TCP/IP, OPC UA, etc.).
Experience integrating PLCs, sensors, vision systems, and peripheral hardware.
Competence in C#, Python, or Lua for automation scripting and integration tasks.
Experience with 3D modeling, prototyping, and additive manufacturing (3D printing) for designing robotic tools and fixtures.
Familiarity with mechatronics, electronics, or mechanical design (CAD) is highly advantageous.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus.

Nice to Have
Experience in laboratory automation or process optimization.
Knowledge of AI-assisted automation, ML-based process control, or computer vision.
Ability to document and train others on automation workflows.
Willingness to travel occasionally within the Nordic or EMEA region.
